Thank You Chicken

I'm so excited to finally write a detailed experience of Thank You Chicken, one of my favorite restaurants in all of the Atlanta Metro area. This place has never disappointed whether for lunch or dinner. It's always just a shame that I can't eat indefinitely and that they close. Aside from that I'm amazed that this random restaurant I would see morning, noon and night became this place I love to return to. To think, all it took was Jay employing a tried and true #breakfasttime meetup to solidify this place in my heart.

An Asian chicken place in Duluth seemed unexciting at first glance. However, upon my first trip walking in I was greeted by a dimly lit blue neon accented décor with a strange sound blaring for a few seconds that I learned over time signified someone was walking in.

Aside from that noise the familiar sounds of KPOP could be heard over the wave of conversations from all around. To me, this gave off the vibe of an inviting hip club/lounge.
The crowd here looked young but more the young adult age really hitting the vibe I was feeling. Anyway, moments after walking in the door a female server donning a black dress and a red baseball jersey with the restaurant logo addressed us and quickly directed us to a table for our party of four.

Unable to shake the night club/lounge vibe after sitting, I took it in and had a brief conversation with the crew till our server returned asking for our drink orders. The Peach Lemonade seemed like a good option and I was awarded with a large green bottle with a cute glass cup accompanied with a festive straw.

After I finally figured out how to open my sealed bottle I took a sip of the drink through my straw and WOW! The lemonade packed an intense sour punch, that was cut nicely with the peach flavor that brought me back and delivered on a sweetness I enjoyed.

With drinks this good I excitedly asked my friends what should we get to eat. Without hesitation Jay with Tien agreeing, exclaimed the best choice is the Half and Half Thank You Platter along with at least one other dish. With this decision determined we buzzed the server over and let her know we wanted the Half Thank You And Half Yang Nyum Chicken Platter as well as a bowl of the Kimchi Fried Rice.

Shortly after putting our order in, our server returned placing these little sauce containers holding 3 different sauces a piece. One was their spicy sauce, one was their soy sauce and another was the blend spicy sweet sauce. They also placed these small cups of pickled daikon radish which had a smell and taste that I personally can't deal with it and with one smell and taste I immediately pushed it over to one of my friends.
Moments later they brought out what was referred to as the seasonal sides. Which consisted of some simple tortilla chips with a mild salsa, small potato chunks, a simple salad with I think a ginger dressing, some corn with cheese and chicken gizzards which were quite tasty.

Enjoying the good service, great drinks, good music, good vibes and our waitress being cute to boot. I was looking forward to the entrée soon to be delivered. Halfway through our group consuming the sides multiple servers dropped two giant plates of chicken on the tables and man did it look great. The Thank You Chicken was lightly fried with this light white color and man this one tasted great but not over powering. Somehow, despite being fried there barely seemed to be any extraneous grease. Despite that it was still crunchy and the white meat was juicy. Any of the three dipping sauces just kicked the flavor up a notch. Next up was the delectable yang nyum chicken. Drenched in this sweet yet spicy sauce that couldn't be eaten without a tasty mess you got to taste the excellent flavor of the spiciness but cut perfectly with this honey like flavor. Well, maybe not honey but it was just enough sweetness that neither the sweet or spicy flavor was overwhelming.

While enjoying the chicken the servers came by and handed us the the Kimchi fried rice which was served in a stone bowl which stayed hot for basically the rest of the night. Getting rice with a flavorful taste of kimchi was a perfect alternative to our platter of food.

Just wow, what an incredible night. What I thought was going to be basic turned to seriously surprise me. Thank You Chicken has maintained being one of the few places I consistently and repeatably return to. I've lost count on the number of times I've been at this point. My expectation was fried chicken cooked that well could only be found at a black establishment. But, this place has changed my mind and should be a staple visit whenever in doubt of where to eat. Take note,  Koreans can cook a mean fried Chicken, never forget.
